Who is a Mocha Mermaid?
Mocha Mermaids and Merfolx are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color who love the ocean and want to protect it. We celebrate our diversity and celebrate the BIG BLUE that gives us life. Mocha Mermaids are intelligent, mysterious, determined, resilient, and powerful, especially when we come together as one.
The Original Mocha Mermaid
Miami native with Jamaican heritage, Danni Washington is deeply passionate about our oceans and science communications. She dreamed of studying the oceans since she was six years old and that passion has fueled her work as a TV host, thought leader, public speaker, and more.
She created Mocha Mermaid to celebrate and create a community of fellow ocean warrior queens. Danni is passionate about cultivating and amplifying the voices of ocean-loving BIPOC communities so everyone can be heard.
